This system provides frontline and real-time data for decision making, allowing Pact to assess and monitor local levels of conflict in target areas and consider shifting resources if possible to address conflict trends.

Date: May 2013 — Present
Location: Nepal
Technology: Resource Map

To rapidly track conflict data, Pact will introduce short messaging service (SMS) and geospatial information system (GIS) data collection and entry to the Alternative Dispute Resolution/Community Mediation (ADR/CM) methodology in Nepal, allowing longitudinal mapping of local conflicts, their types, status and duration.

In close collaboration with Equal Access, InSTEDD iLab Southeast Asia provides the services of its technical personnels to:

  • Identify and prioritise the system requirements based on user and stakeholder input,
  • Utilising commercially-available open source software as much as possible, define and develop a system configuration to meet those requirements,
  • Deploy the system on servers in Nepal.
