Women’s Media Center

The organization: Women’s Media Center of Cambodia (WMC) is leading local organization working on women’s empowerment and gender equality in Cambodia. They founded the FM 102 radio station in 1999, with the objective of being recognized for high quality radio programs and to be respected nationally and internationally for being their professional and ethical leadership in Cambodia’s media sector. WMC delivers national awareness and informative programs on a diverse range of issues affecting contemporary Cambodia, with a special focus on the roles and rights of Cambodian women.

The relationship: With funding from the SPIDER center, we provided technical consulting and developed an interactive voice response (IVR) service which compliments their existing work.  Through a customized version of Verboice, the Women’s Media Center is implementing a series of mobile-based information telephone hotlines, scheduled advice services and question boxes for women that complement and extend their current work. Through a customized version of Verboice , women and children will be able to access on demand health information services, therefore increasing their awareness and understanding of health issues that affect them.
