ILO Better Factories Cambodia
The organization: Better Factories Cambodia (BFC) is a unique programme of the International Labour Organization. aims to improve working conditions in Cambodia’s export garment factories. It combines independent monitoring with finding solutions, through suggestions to management, training, advice and information. Better Factories Cambodia is managed by the International Labour Organization but relies on collaboration with the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC) and the country’s trade unions.
The relationship: With funding from the SPIDER center, we configured our Interactive Voice Response System (IVR), Verboice, which enables ILO’s Better Factories Cambodia to connect directly with factory workers in order to help them better understand their rights. Using Verboice, BFC has developed a quiz which allows garment factory workers to call in to the system to answer to several questions related to salaries, work safety and personal health.
